WikiLeaks founder wanted for suspected rape and sexual molestation
Sweden’s criminal police have issued an international arrest warrant for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
According to the police, Assange is wanted on suspicion of rape and sexual molestation.
“Late last night we gathered all the information and sent it out in the different systems,” a spokesperson of the Swedish National Criminal Police said.
Assange is being accused of having raped a woman in Sweden and sexually molesting another.
Denying the accusations, Assange’s lawyer filed an appeal against the arrest warrant court order, but the appeal did not suspend the order or delay the warrant.
Assange claims the accusations are part of a “smear campaign” against his whistleblower website for publishing classified US documents on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
