An EgyptAir plane en route to Beijing from Cairo was forced to make an emergency landing in Uzbekistan after a bomb threat was phoned in to security agents in Cairo.

It has now been cleared to resume its journey to Beijing.

All 118 passengers and 17 crew on board the Airbus A330-220 were evacuated at Urgench International Airport.

Uzbek security forces searched the plane for any devices but none were found, Egyptian officials said.

The plane, an Airbus A-330-220, landed in Uzbekistan three hours after it took off from Cairo at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
