The Walt Disney Company donated money to the OneOrlando organisation, Orland mayor Buddy Dyer announced on Tuesday.

The organisation was established to help victims of the shooting at the Pulse nightclub last weekend.

“We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act,” Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek said in a statement.

“With 74,000 cast members who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones.”

49 people were killed and 53 others injured after the 29-year-old shooter, Omar Mateen, opened fire inside the LGBT nightclub.
Dyer also thanked the company for their donation on Twitter.

“Thank you Walt Disney Co. for donating $1 million to One Orlando,” he wrote. Dyer also announced that, amongst others, JetBlue contributed $100,000 (€89,098.77) and the DeVos Family donated $400,000 (€356,395.06).
