Dozens were injured when an explosion tore through a busy commuter train in Taiwan's capital, Taipei, late on Thursday.

According to reports some 24 people were injured in the incident, which occurred at Taipei's Songshan station before midnight many of them badly burned.

Police bomb squad chief Lee Tzu-wen told reporters that they found a broken tube with explosive material inside that looked like a firecracker, however, the police have not ruled out the possibility that it is an accident rather than a targeted attack.
