[WATCH] Syrian tourism ministry releases ad with slogan ‘Always Beautiful'
Syrian tourism ministry releases two-minute promotional video, aimed at advertising the country as a tourist destination
The Syrian Tourism Ministry has released a video, promoting the war-torn country as a tourist destination.
The two-minute clip features swooping shots of packed beaches, luxury hotels and jet-skiing tourists in the coastal town of Tartus, which was hit earlier this year by a series of suicide bombings by Islamic State militants.
The clip, which is played to the song of Alan Walker’s popular song ‘Faded’, ends with the slogan “Syria-Always Beautiful”.
It makes no mention of the images commonly associated with Syria – such as the millions of people who have been forced to flee the country and the cities razed to the ground by air strikes. Not does it mention the Islamic State group, that controls large swathes of the country under brutal Sharia law.
