Mechanic found guilty over Concorde crash
The US airline Continental and one of its mechanics have been convicted over the fatal Concorde crash in Paris 10 years ago.
A French court ruled that Continental Airlines and mechanic John Taylor, 42, were guilty of manslaughter for setting off a chain of events that led to the accident - which left 113 dead.
The Court ordered a 15-month-long suspended sentence for Taylor and approximately £1.7 million in damages and fines for him and the company.
The Concorde plane crash took place just minutes after taking off from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, heading to New York.
According to the French prosecutors, the Air France Concorde was forced to crash when a strip of titanium metal fell off another Continental Airlines plane on the runway. This burst a tyre on the Concorde, throwing debris into its fuel tank and causing the fire.
