Trump 'considering new executive order' on travel ban

President Trump told reporters on Air Force One that a "brand new order" could be issued as early as Monday or Tuesday after an unsuccsessful appeal against a court ruling, suspending the order

US President Donald Trump appears undeterred by the failure of his appeal against the suspension of his executive order to ban citizens of certain countries from travelling to the US and is considering issuing a new executive order.

President Trump told reporters on Air Force One that a "brand new order" could be issued as early as Monday or Tuesday after a court of appeal in San Francisco upheld a court ruling suspending the order, which barred citizens from seven mainly Muslim countries from entry into the US.

The President said that it would change "very little" from the original, although he did not elaborate. The travel ban, which he enacted at the end of his first week in office, caused chaos at US airports and gave rise to widespread protests .

The Trump administration may still pursue its court case over the original order, which was stopped by as Seattle judge in the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals a week ago. "The unfortunate part is it takes time. We'll win that battle. But we also have a lot of other options, including just filing a brand new order," the President told reporters.

An unidentified judge in Seattle has called on all 25 judges of that court to vote on whether to hear the appeal again in what is known as an en banc review. A second hearing of the case would involve a panel of 11 judges, as opposed to the three who initially heard the appeal.
