North-Western Pakistanbus explosion 'kills 15'

At least 15 people have been killed in an explosion in a bus in north-western Pakistan but it is as yet unclear what caused the blast, according to police.

The blast too place inside a van in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The vehicle was carrying 18 passengers from Hangu to nearby Kohat at the time.

It is as yet unclear whether the blast was caused by a bomb planted on the minibus, or whether it was casued by gas cylinders in the vehicle, a police official said. Most vehicles in Pakistan are run on gas, which is cheaper than petrol.

A senior police official told the AFP news agency that he could see "two exploded gas cylinders" in the wreckage of the bus.
