Berlusconi undergoes bone transplant surgery

Following the assault in 2009 in which a man threw a souvenir at his face, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has undergone bone transplant surgery to repair damage to his jaw and teeth.

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office, Berlusconi underwent a four-hour operation in Milan. The operation was necessary to allow the him to chew properly and move his jaw.

During the assault, Berlusconi had ended up with a broken nose, fractured teeth and gashed lips.
