178 migrants land on Lampedusa

 A group of 178 Tunisian migrants have landed on the Sicilian island of Lampedusa last night.

The migrant boat is the first to arrive on Lampedusa after 11 days, and included women and children.

Thousands of economic migrants have fled Tunisia foillowing February's uprising that ousted President Ben Ali, and triggered a political row at EU level between Italy and France over the granting by Rome of temporary permits to the migrants.
