[WATCH] Hurt voters, complacent voters, unity and all that
PN and PL candidates lay down their priorities for the 25 May election on TVM’s Xtra, hosted by Saviour Balzan
With two weeks to go for the European election Labour candidates have cautioned against complacency and stressed the importance for people to go out and vote on 25 May.
Labour candidates Cyrus Engerer and Alex Agius Saliba argued on Xtra this evening that people may feel laid back at a time when the country is doing well.
Engerer urged people to ensure that the calm atmosphere in the country continued by going out to vote.
The pair crossed swords with Nationalist candidates Frank Psaila and Dione Borg, who insisted that not everyone in the country was doing well as the government wanted everyone to believe. Psaila noted that small businesses were feeling a squeeze on their cash flow, a sign that there was not enough money doing the rounds.
Saliba argued that people wanted their MEPs to defend their country in European institutions and were bothered by the behaviour of PN MEPs over the past five years.
Borg refuted the PL's narrative that the election was a choice between Adrian Delia and Joseph Muscat. He insisted the PN was running a collective campaign.
