Top esports teams battled for glory and a $25,000 prize pool in Tekken 7 and Rainbow Six Siege finals
Last weekend, Malta played host to the thrilling finals of the Malta Cyber Series, capping off months of intense competition that began with online qualifiers last December.
Over 100 teams from across Europe vied for a coveted spot in the Offline Finals, where they battled it out in two popular esports titles: Tekken 7 and Rainbow Six Siege.
The stakes were high, with a combined prize pool exceeding $25,000. In December 2022, the Tekken 7 competition offered a $5,000 prize pool, while the Rainbow Six Siege tournament saw winners taking home over $20,000, with Team BDS emerging as the dominant force.
The journey to the finals was grueling yet exhilarating, featuring eight Online Qualifiers and a Last Chance Qualifier. The climax of the competition was a live final showdown held in Malta, where the top teams showcased their skill and strategy in front of a global audience.
The Malta Cyber Series attracted over 2,000 participants, forming more than 400 teams, each eager to prove their mettle on the virtual battlefield. The event garnered significant attention, with over 500,000 viewers tuning in to witness the action-packed matches.
Additionally, the finals drew over 100 foreign spectators who traveled to Malta specifically for the event, highlighting the growing popularity and international appeal of esports.
Organised by GMR Concepts Ltd in collaboration with Gaming Malta and renowned esports studio Ubisoft, the Malta Cyber Series received official licensing from Ubisoft, further solidifying its status as a premier esports event.
The collaboration between these entities ensured a seamless and professional execution, providing players and viewers alike with an unforgettable esports experience.
