Malta Boxing Federation holds AGM
On Thursday 10 June the Malta Boxing Federation held its Annual General Meeting. The main item on the Agenda was an election for a new executive committee.
The members elected at the helm of the Federation were Mr Anthony Willoughby and Mr Charles Cardona as president and vice-president respectively, while Mr Marc James Davies took the chair as Secretary General.
Mr Gerry Camilleri was once again confirmed as Referees & Judges Commissioner while both Ms Rosemarie Willoughby and Mr Steve Abela were confirmed as financial controllers. Mr Michael Brown was appointed Youth Commisioner while Ms Louanna Marmara’ was elected Commisioner for women’s boxing. Mr Justin Mifsud was once again confirmed as Internet and Media Representative.
Other members elected on the E-Committee were Mr Amabile Camilleri, Mr Stephen Farrugia, Mr Joseph Grech, Mr Alfred Camilleri and Mr Joseph Muscat.
A group of four boxers from St Julian’s Amateur Boxing Club will be representing Malta in the UK between the 17 and 20 June. These are Haithem Lamouz who last year represented Malta in the World Championships in Milan, Zak Farrugia who last month won a bronze medal for Malta in Casablanca, Marocco, and Philip Galea and Peter Kahout who were both recently crowned National Champions in their respective weight categories. Mr Julian Borg, an English Coach of Maltese origin will be coaching the boxers while Mr Marc James Davies will be leading the delegation.
