Marsa break losing streak
What another incredible week of cricket. What a headache for the selection committee to organise so many teams to play for the Marsa C.C against the touring teams.
On Wednesday the final game against Worcester Royal Grammar school was played where WRGC won quite comfortably with Bartlett taking six wickets. Notably for Marsa was Nowell Khosla’s forty four runs.
On Friday a game was played against new touring team Romiley C.C who in cricketing terms destroyed the home side. Batting first they made 165 runs in the twenty over game with R.Holt making fifty three runs. Almost as many as the full Marsa score of 59 all out.
On Saturday , the fixtures were re scheduled for a mini tournament, which will include new team Aldenham C.C.
First game was between Marsa and Romiley. The visitors batted first and made 169 runs from their twenty overs with R.Holt again showing class with fifty four runs and B.Allcock made thirty nine. The Marsa team could only muster up 109 runs of their twenty overs with Sam Aquilina top scoring with thirty six runs. In the second game Romiley accounted for Aldenham and therefore won the mini tournament.
The third game was between Aldenham and Marsa for second placing. Aldenham batted first and made 109 runs of their overs. Charlie Munroe top scoring with thirty one runs and C.Hewitt with eighteen. For Marsa Joy Ghoseroy took three wickets. After a very shaky start and Charlie Munroue taking five wickets the Home side managed to get over the line and win. Chris Naudi playing a great innings of thirty three and Zubair Raja making twenty one.
On Sunday the series against Romiley continued. Romiley batting first in the thirty five over encounter, were bowled out for 164 runs. B.Allcock making fifty five runs and R.Holt twenty seven. For Marsa Sumair Khan took four wickets and Mike Caruana three.
Again the Marsa bating line up stuttered but managed to get the required runs with one ball remaining in the innings. A gallant innings from Bikram Arora which undoubtedly was the best innings for Marsa in the past couple of weeks , had him make seventy five runs which included five fours and five sixes. Mike Caruana made sixteen runs not out being the next highest score equal with extras. For the visitors P.Garner took three wickets.
On Tuesday the fourth game of the Romiley series is to be played with the home time desperate foe a win to try and draw the series.
On Saturday the Sunoco Cricket Academy will be from 9:oo till 10:30am.
