Leyland C.C secure series win
On Saturday the CRIC HQ MCA Summer league continued with the Marauders C.C taking on Krishna C.C.
The Krishna team batted first , with Tony Azzopardi doing a fantastic job for them opening the batting and retiring for the second time in three innings , this time making a run a ball thirty runs which included two boundaries. Sidharth Anand made twenty two runs from seventeen balls which included a six and a four.
Daniel Galea batted well for eleven runs and also retired ( juniours retire after fifteen balls ). Nowell Khosla was Krishna ‘s top scorer with forty five runs which included four fours and a six. Simon Lavendar chipped in with sixteen runs towards the end of the innings, The Krishna team totalled 145 runs which is the highest to date for the competition. For the Marauders Ian Pendelbury, Luke Bradley and Ed Manning all took a wicket each. Tom Atkins also had a good opening spell of three overs which went for fourteen runs only.
The Marauders went out with intention and unfortunately for them they fell short by sixteen runs. Mike Caruana retired making thirty one runs, Owen Jones also retired , played well and made twenty one runs, Ed Manning made twenty five runs and Ian Pendlebury with entertaining batting made twenty one runs. For Krishna Frank Spiteri took two wickets while Haroon Majeed, Simon Lavendar and Sid Anand took a wicket each. Krishna earned fourteen points for the win and go on top of the standings, while Marauders earned no points.
Last Tuesday the Marsa C.C played the final game against Leyland C.C in a high scoring twenty over game. Leyland C.C batted first and accumulated 208 runs with Alex Ross scoring his second century in as many innings. The Marsa team made a game of it and ended up twenty six runs short. Haroon Majeed was the highest scorer with seventy four runs. Leyland win their sixth series against Marsa from seven. Marsa’s only series win was back in 2010.
Next Saturday the CRIC HQ MCA Summer league continues with the Marauders taking on the Marsa C.C.
