Preview of today’s Euro 2016 matches
Group A will be concluded today with two matches that will be played today at 9 p.m. when Albania will face Romania, while France will meet Switzerland.
Albania vs Romania
At the Stade de Lyon, Romania will have one final chance to go through as they will face Albania. Both these teams showed some good football against teams that on paper are much better than them such as France and Switzerland. However, they are in the last two places of group A.
Romania will be coming into this match from a 1-1 draw against Switzerland, while Albania lost 2-0 to France. Such results means that both teams need to win if they are to qualify for the next round of the tournament.
These teams played against each other 16 times in their histories. Romania won 11 of such encounters, while Albania won 2. The remaining 3 matches ended up in a draw. This gives an advantage to the Romanians who from their recent play against France and Switzerland can be considered as favourites for this match.
This match will be controlled by Pavel Kralovec from the Czech Republic.
France vs Switzerland
At the same time, France will meet Switzerland at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille.
The hosts are top of the group with 6 points, while Switzerland are second with 4 points. France will be looking to top the group since they only need a point to do so. On the other hand, Switzerland need at least a point to ensure their qualification.
It will not be easy for Switzerland since as Gelson Fernandes told the media, “France have some outstanding players. Griezmann, Pogba and Martial are all capable of winning a game by themselves". However, when looking at the collective, Switzerland can also threaten France since through recent performances, they showed that they are not easy to beat.
History also confirms this, since although France managed 16 wins against Switzerland, the latter managed to beat them 12 times. The remaining 9 matches ended up in a draw. This will sure be a match to watch.
The official of this match will be Damir Skomina from Slovenia.
