Inter President Massimo Moratti not giving up on Villas-Boas
Inter President Massimo Moratti is not giving up on trying to sign Porto’s treble winning coach Andre Villas-Boas after it was reported that he is not interested in leaving Porto.
Inter’s Marco Branca and Director Piero Ausilio have left for Oporto on Saturday eveining for intensive talks with the Portuguese tactician.
This is not the first time Villas-Boas has been linked with Inter as he was on their radar before Leonardo was taken on board.
With Fiorentina coach Sinisa Mihajlovic declaring that he would like to stay with his current team, Inter are running out of options.
Villas-Boas’ has a buy-out clause of €15m, but it is believed that if one of Port’s star players is sold the clause is void.
It is being reported that Inter might try to kill two birds with one stone buy signing striker Falcao and their coach.
Villas-Boas is not a new face with Inter as he was part of Mourinho’s technical staff in his first season with Inter.
Villas-Boas has on numerous occasions been labelled ‘Special Two’.
Villas-Boas has become hot property since he won the Portuguese League title, Portuguese Super Cup and the UEFA Europa League title in his first season with Porto. English giants Chelsea are also on the look out for a new coach since they let go of Carlos Ancelotti and Villas-Boas has interested them as well.
Inter are desperate at the moment to sign a new coach, as they are way behind in the transfer race. League champions Milan, Roma and Juventus have strengthened their sides since the transfer window opened.
If the deal with Villas-Boas does not materialise, other names that are on Inter’s shortlist are: Former Roma Claudio Ranieri, Delio Rossi who has just left Palermo and Genoa’s former coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
