Spain win UEFA European Under-21 Championship
Spain are the European Under-21 champions after producing an impressive performance to defeat Switzerland 2-0 yesterday evening in Aarhus, to add further proof that the Iberian nation are the dominant force of international football.
The opening goal of the game came on the 41st minute when Ander Herrera nipped in between Switzerland's centre-backs to get on the end of a precise Didac Vila cross to send a powerful header past Yann Sommer and give Spain Euro glory.
Thiago added a second in the 82nd minute with a sumptuous 40 yard free-kick to put the icing on the cake.
Spain were content to see out the victory by keeping possession of the ball to clinch their third European Under-21 Championships trophy after previously winning the competition in 1986 and 1998.
