Jose Mourinho named manager of sport at Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho will have more power at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have announced that Jose Mourinho will now be the manager of sport and football at the Spanish club.
Club president, Florentino Perez decided some internal restructuring in management had to take place after the departure of Jorge Valdano last May.
The club's board have now approved a number of changes which sees the Portuguese given new powers when it comes to team matters.
A statement on the capital outfit's official website reads: "The Real Madrid C.F directorate, who met on Thursday, has approved the new organisational structure which includes a unique general director in Jose Angel Sanchez, Manuel Redondo will be responsible for the chairman's office, and Jose Mourinho has been nominated as manager of sport for football."
As part of the new changes Mourinho will have more influence upon decision-making relating to his team such as player transfers.
Mourinho has clashed with Jorge Valdano a number of times in the past season. This decision will surely make his job easier with nobody getting in his way when it comes to transfers.
The former Inter boss will maintain his role as team coach, but now has complete authority over the whole technical area at the club.
