Uruguay defeat Paraguay to win the Copa America
Uruguay defeated Paraguay 3-0 to win the Copa America title for a record 15th time.
The last time Uruguay lifted the title was in 1995.
A goal from Suarez and a double from Diego Forlan made sure that Uruguay took the title home on Sunday evening.
Suarez scored the first goal as early as the 12th minute. Making his way down the right flank Suarez unleashed a powerful shot that left deflected of defender Dario Veron to find its way into the net.
Diego Forlan put one hand one the title after he made it 2-0 three minutes before the end of the first half. Egidio Arevalo served the ball to Forlan who then made no mistake with his shot beating goalkeeper Justo Villar.
Forlan put the match out of reach for Paraguay in injury time. Forlan slotted the ball in off a header from Suarez.
The victory gives Uruguay their 15th Copa America title to become the most successful team in the tournament.
