Valletta to face Inter in friendly match

The press conference was originally held to give details on the Mare Blu Cup match between Valletta and Hamrun Spartans which will be played next Thursday.

The match will be held on August 21 2011 at 7.30pm at the Ta’ Qali stadium.

Scriha said the negotiations with Inter have been ongoing for the past months and an agreement was signed last week.

This will not be the first time Inter have played in Malta.

Inter played against Valletta in the 1972 UEFA Cup. Inter went on to eliminate Valletta on a 7-1 aggregate.

In 1978, Inter brushed aside Floriana with an 8-1 aggregate in the Cup Winners’ Cup competition.

Finally in 2002, Inter played a friendly match against a Malta Selection to inaugurate the Millennium Stand at the National Stadium.
