Sources deny United offer for Inter's Wesley Sneijder
Italian sources yesterday evening insisted Manchester United haven’t made an offer for Wesley Sneijder after the English newspaper The Daily Mirror published a story indicating Inter have agreed terms with the English champions.
“That’s not what I heard and above all to this day United haven’t made any real offers for Sneijder,” FIFA agent Peppino Tirri told Calciomercato.it.
“There is certainly interest, but a formal proposal is still a long way off.”
The Mirror report stated that Inter had accepted United’s offer for Sneijder.
According to the British tabloid, Inter had accepted a €35 million for the transfer.
This would mean that United would only need to negotiate personal terms with Wesley Sneijder.
This would obviously be the sticking point as the Inter player wants €10 million net per season (approx €200,000 per week).
At the moment, Sneijder is with Inter in China preparing for the Italian Super Cup match against city rivals Milan and he is selected to play by Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
When asked by the press on Sneijder’s situation, Gasperini was quick to answer “He’s playing for us, training with us and he’ll play on Saturday. There is no Sneijder problem.”
Sneijder was also quizzed by the journalists, “I want the Italian Super Cup.” Sneijder told the press.
“We’re here for a very important match and it’s a special game for two reasons.”
“The first is because we’re in China and secondly because it’s a derby.
“I’m convinced Inter can do well here and I’ll do everything I can to make sure that happens. We want to win. We’re here to win it,” concluded Sneijder.
