Birkirkara start new BOV Premier League campaign with a win

Birkirkara started their new BOV Premier League campaign with a 2-0 win over Qormi yesterday evening.

Birkirkara made a good start to the match as they were the dominant side throughout the match. Qormi had some good scoring opportunities but just could not find the back of the net.

Birkirkara took the lead just 13 minutes after the start. Rowen Muscat passed the ball precisely to Moises Avila Perez who then went on to beat Qormi goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia with his rising shot.

Qormi had a great chance to level matters when Joseph Farrugia’s powerful shot scrapped the woodwork just four minutes before the first half ended.

Both sides continued to have good opportunities to score in the second half, but Birkirkara sealed the affair when the scored their second goal just four minutes from time.

Christos Karamanolis brought Moises Avila Perez down inside the area. Referee Kevin Azzopardi immediately pointed to the penalty sport. Trevor Cilia made no mistake in converting the penalty into a goal for Birkirkara.

The match ended 2-0 with Birkirkara taking home all three points on their first match of the season.
