Sliema edge past Birkirkara

Sliema Wanderers defeated Birkirkara 1-0 and moved within one point of Valletta and Floriana in the BOV Premier League standings.

Meanwhile Birkirkara, remain in sixth place after they have lost two of their last three games.

Birkirkara had a goal dissalowed on the 27th minute mark after Should Shodiya scored, but the assistant referee Mariano Debono signaled it was offside.

Sliema managed to score on the 56th minute thanks to Jeremiah Ani’s shot that beat goalkeeper Jorge Mora.

Birkirkara pressed to score an equaliser, but the Sliema defense managed to keep the Stripes out of their goal.

Jorge Santos Silva was voted BOV Player of the Match.
