Valletta return to winning ways with victory Mqabba

This victory puts Valletta at the top of the BOV Premier League standings for the moment as second-placed Hibernians still have a game in hand.

Valletta immediately took the lead after just after 34 seconds from the start. Ousseni Zongo scored after he intercepted a header from a Mqabba defender that was meant for goalkeeper Kris Calleja.

Mqabba scored the equaliser on the 25^th minute. Valletta goalkeeper Andrew Hogg’s poor clearance was intercepted by Marlon Briffa who then beat Hogg with his fine lob.

Valletta regained the lead on the 27^th minute in fine style. Off a cross from the left, William Barbosa’s overhead kick left no chance for goalkeeper Kris Calleja.

Mqabba were back in the game on the 36^th minute after Bojan scored from a direct freekick that left no chance for Andrew Hogg.

Valletta started to push ahead and their effort paid off on the 67^th minute when William Barbosa headed the ball after receiving a perfect cross from Dyson Falzon to make it 3-2.

On the 88^th minute, Denni Rocha Dos Santos scored the fourth goal for Valletta when he beat Kris Calleja with his effort.

William Barbosa was voted BOV Player of the Match.
