Sliema impress in victory over Tarxien

Sliema defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-0 to return back to winning ways.

Sliema were desperate for a victory as they only collected three points from their last five matches.

Sliema had to wait till the 34th minute before they took the lead. Jackson Lima Sequeira was brought down inside the area and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. Danial Mitev made no mistake from the penalty spot to give Sliema the lead.

Sliema doubled the score in the final seconds of the first half. Cleavon Frendo shot was blocked, but Jorge Santos Silva was their for the rebound to have it blocked again by a defender, but Silva would not be denied when he was their for the rebound again and beat goalkeeper David Cassar.

Daniel Mitev made 3-0 for Sliema on the 70th minute. A rising shot from outside the area by Mitev hit the crossbar to end up at the back of the net.

Sliema’s dominance in the second half paid off as they took all three points home.
