Barcelona reacts to talk of Guardiola moving to Inter

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell did not waste any time by offering coach Pep Guardiola a new contract after reports of their coach talking to Inter president Massimo Moratti last weekend.

It is a known fact that Massimo Moratti would sign Guardiola if there was an opportunity as he believes the current Barcelona coach can bring Inter the same success that former coach Jose Mourinho brought to the club.

Yesterday evening, while talking to reporters Moratti immediately denied that he had any talks with Guardiola while he was in Italy to watch the match of his former club. But this did not stop Barcelona from making sure their most successful coach stays with the club.

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell said that Guardiola has a new contract waiting for him and revealed the retired midfielder has the option to choose the terms of the deal.

"We are doing everything possible for Guardiola to continue," he told Al Jazeera. "For him, the door of our office is always open and the contract is ready.

"He can choose to sign for a year, two, three of four. Or even if he wants, he can sign for one year with an option for another one, or an option for two more.

"The contract is on the table for him to feel happy and comfortable. He hope he will say 'yes' and that he stays with us."

40-year-old Pep Guardiola took charge of Barca's first team in 2008 and has become the most successful coach in the history of the club, with 12 titles in little over 200 games.
