PBS obtains free-to-air rights for Champions, Europa leagues up to 2015
UEFA has awarded Public Broadcasting Services exclusive free-to-air Champions League and Europa League media rights in Malta for three seasons starting from 2012-13.
TVM will be showing the best UEFA Champions League match live each Wednesday starting from the preliminary rounds, through the group stage and the knockout phase, up to the final: a total of 17 matchdays plus the UEFA Super Cup Final between the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
TVM will also be showing a weekly Champions League highlights programme.
PBS will also be broadcasting the best match each week from the UEFA Europa League on Thursday: over fifteen matchdays from the group phase once again right through to the final. Each match will be followed by a highlights programme.
PBS will also be locally streaming all the above matches via internet.
"PBS Ltd feels that offering high calibre free-to-air sports is part of its remit as the National Broadcaster. Over the past months, it has invested substantially in the upgrading of the sports coverage, with the setting up of a dedicated team" PBS CEO Anton Attard said.
