Hibernians fail to keep up with leaders Valletta

Hibernians had to come back from behind to earn a point when they played to a 1-1 draw against Sliema.

This result leaves Hibernians three points behind Champions Valletta who defeated Tarxien Rainbows 4-1 Friday evening.

Both Hibernians and Sliema had numerous chances to score in the first half, but it still ended goalless.

On the 77th minute, Sliema were reduced to ten-men when Josef Mifsud was sent off after receiving his second yellow card for a foul on Peter Anizoba..

Being one man down, Sliema managed to take the lead on the 84th minute. A low shot by Roderick Bajada beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat to give Sliema the lead.

One minute from time, Hibernians managed to save the match and earn a point. Off a freekick by Andrew Cohen, Edison Luis dos Santos headed the ball in past goalkeeper Henry Bonello.

Jorge Santos Silva was voted BOV Player of the Match.
