Inter back on track as Milan stall

Inter Milan got their season back on track with a 2-1 victory over Cagliari at the San Siro taking them above their opponents and into the top half of the table

Thiago Motta put the Nerazzurri ahead in the 54th minute and it looked easy for Inter, who hit the woodwork twice in the first half, when Philippe Coutinho opened his account for the season six minutes later.

But Joaquin Larrivey made it interesting with a goal in the 89th minute which was not, however, enough to prevent Davide Ballardini from losing on his debut on the Cagliari bench.

In other games, Milan were held by Fioretina on Delio Rossi’s debut as Fiorentina coach. The match did not go well for Milan as they had a Clarence Seedorf goal on the 19th minute cancelled, although his goal was wrongly ruled out for offside.

The woodwork also prevented Milan from finding the back of the net.

Finally, Lazio’s unbeaten run continued as they played to a goalless draw against Napoli.

Edy Reja's side will be content with a point, for which they have goalkeeper Federico Marchetti to thank for several excellent second-half saves.

Lazio are now unbeaten in nine games and move top of the table, but Udinese can overtake them tomorrow with victory at Parma.
