Hamrun back to winning ways
Hamrun Spartans are back to winning ways after they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-1 on Friday evening.
Tarxien now find themselves at the bottom of the BOV Premier League standings after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat.
Hamrun went ahead on the 24th minute when Anderson Mendes Ribeiro's perfect pass to Dene Shields enabled the latter to beat goalkeeper David Cassar to give Hamrun the lead.
Just five minutes later, Tarxien missed a chance to score after Cai Garcia Suguino's shot was high after his attempt from inside the area.
Hamrun doubled the score on the 37th minute. This time Dene Shields served Anderson Mendes Ribeiro who then went on the beat goalkeeper David Cassar with his shot.
Hamrun's dominance showed in the second half as on the 49th minute, Anderson Mendes Ribeiro made it 3-0 after he scored from close range following a corner from Kevin Sammut.
Just two minutes later, Tarxien managed to find the back of the net when they were awarded a penalty . Nikica Gacesa fouled Ricardo Costa inside the area to have the referee point to the penalty spot. Ricardo Costa made no mistake with his shot to beat goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.
Anderson Mendes Ribeiro was voted BOV Player of the Match.
