Brazilian football legend Socrates dies

Iconic Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira has died of septic shock aged 57.

Socrates who led the Brazilian national side to the 1982 World Cup in Spain was admitted to hospital suffering from a severe intestinal infection earlier this week.

The Brazilian who famously smoked two packets of cigarettes at the height of his football career died of a septic shock of intestinal origin in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
