Mqabba earn a point with late goal as Mosta defeat Tarxien Rainbows

Both teams were very cautious in the first half with solid defending. While the first half ended goalless, Balzan had some  good scoring opportunities.

Balzan finally managed to score on the 72^nd minute when Dylan Grima served Pedro dos Santos Calcado who then had his low shot from inside the area beat goalkeeper Kris Calleja.

It did not take long for Mqabba to get back in the match as five minutes later a fantastic shot by Mauro Bonnici from outside the area left no chance for Balzan's goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri.

On the 81^st minute, Balzan managed to regain the lead. Pedro dos Santos Calcado was on target again with his angled shot after he received a pass from Anthony Eviparker.

When it looked liked Balzan secured all three points, Branislav Timotic managed to earn his team a precious point after he headed the ball over goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri after receiving a precise pass from Pierre Grima.

Pedro dos Santos Calcado was voted BOV Player of the Match.

In the second match of the evening, Mosta defeated Tarxien Rainbows 2-1.

Tarxien are going through a rough patch as it was their fifth defeat in their last six matches.

After the start, it only took seven minutes until Mosta took the lead. Obinna Obiefule's effort was blocked by a defender, but off the rebound Ian Zammit was there to slot the ball in past goalkeeper David Cassar.

Just three minutes later, Tarxien Rainbows scored the equaliser. Off a corner by Caio Garcia, Orosco Anonam's header managed to hit the crossbar to have Ricardo Costa slot the ball in from the rebound past goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.

Mosta regained the lead on the 60^th minute. Adrian Borg had his perfect long distance free kick beat goalkeeper David Cassar.

On the 80^th minute, Mosta were reduced to ten-men after Gilbert Martin received his second yellow card of the match.

The match started to heat up as just one minute later, Tarxien's Ricardo Costa was sent off after hitting Federico Tisbi.

Ian Zammit was voted BOV Player of the Match.
