With this result, Valletta now sit six points clear of second placed Hibernians in the BOV Premier League standings.

It did not take long for Hibernians to take the lead as on the 4th minute, off a corner from Clayton Failla, Rodolfo Soares headed the ball past goalkeeper Andrew Hogg.

On the 30th minute, Valletta managed to score the equalizer. Off a Dennis Rocha dos Santos corner, headers from Ousseni Zongo and Steve Borg  were without success. But Michael Mifsud made no mistake with his attempt when he beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his shot.

Throughout the second half both sides continued to press for another goal, but good defending and goalkeeping kept the ball out of the net.

In added time, Hibernians appealed for a penalty for a foul on Tarabai, but the referee awarded the Paolites a foul just outside the area.

Gilbert Agius was voted BOV Player of the Match.
