Derby della Madonnina - Inter went on to defeat city rivals 1-0 in Sunday's Derby della Madonnina at the San Siro. Inter confirmed their status as legitimate contenders for this season's Scudetto by racking up their sixth successive win in Serie A with a 1-0 victory. The Rossoneri dominated with most of the majority of the 90 minutes, but it was Inter's Diego Milito who scored the only goal of the game thanks to a fantastic build up from veteran captain Jaview Zanetti. Inter still remain fifth in the standings but the distance between them and leaders Juventus has been cut down to only six points.

Maradona - Diego Maradona has undergone surgery to have kidney stones removed, the Dubai hospital where he is being treated confirmed. A spokesman for the Canadian Specialist Hospital said in a statement that Argentina's 1986 World Cup-winning captain, now coach of United Arab Emirates side Al Wasl, would be discharged within a few hours after a successful operation.

Bayern Munich - Bayern Munich defender Breno has vented his frustration over being told to play in the reserves' 1-1 friendly draw against Wacker Burghausen on Saturday, saying the team was treating him badly.  The 22-year-old Brazilian spent 12 days in police detention at the start of the season and is out on bail as an arson suspect after a fire at his own house.  "I do not want to talk badly about the B team but I go to play a friendly. In this phase I am going through at Bayern they are messing with me," he wrote on his Twitter account. Talented Breno, who joined Bayern as an 18-year-old and had high hopes of becoming their defensive anchor, has so far failed to earn a starting spot.

Queens Park Rangers - Mark Hughes is planning to run the rule over more of his QPR players in Tuesday night's FA Cup third-round relay against MK Dons. New manager Hughes revealed he would make some changes for his first home game in charge as the club look to bounce back from Sunday's Barclays Premier League defeat at Newcastle.
