Floriana remained the dominant side during the match and on the 71st minute, off a cross from John Mintoff, Alandson Jansen da Silva doubled the score when he beat the Balzan goalkeeper from close range.

On the 78th minute, Balzan were back in the match when they made it 2-1. Off a Martin Deyanov corner kick, Miguel Ciantar made no mistake to beat goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo.

With Balzan back in the match, the pressure started to mount on Floriana as immediately after the goal, goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo was sent off after he punched Balzan's Nikola Tasic. Substitute goalkeeper Jurgen Borg replaced Ivan Ciantar.

Just two minutes later, Balzan were also reduced to ten men when Clifton Ciantar was sent off after he received his second yellow card after a foul on John Mintoff.

When it all seemed Floriana would be taking all three points home, Balzan scored the equaliser four minutes in added time. Martin Deyanov served Miguel Ciantar who then beat goalkeeper Jurgen Borg with his perfect shot.
