Top spot for Valletta after victory over Sliema

Valletta defeated Sliema Wanderers 2-0 to regain top spot of the BOV Premier League. Valletta now move three points clear of Hibernians with this result.

The first half started with Sliema's Ryan Grech attempt on goal being saved by goalkeeper Andrew Hogg five minutes into the match.

On the ninth minute Valletta responded with Ousseni Zongo dribbling past two defenders to have his shot miss the goal by a small margin.

As the first half was about to come to an end, Valletta were awarded a penalty on the 44th minute when Rumen Galabov brought Ousseni Zongo down inside the area. Valletta failed to take the lead as goalkeeper Henry Bonello deflected William Barbosa's shot from the penalty spot.

Valletta managed to find the back of the net on the 65th minute. Substitute Aleksandars Cekulajevs made no mistake with his shot from close range after picking up a rebound from an attemot by Denni Rocha da Silva.

Valletta doubled their lead two minutes in added time when William Barbosa beat Henry Bonello with his shot from close range.

Henry Bonello was voted BOV Player of the Match.
