Derby victory for Valletta
Valletta were in great for yesterday afternoon when they defeated rivals Floriana 2-0 to continue their positive run in the BOV Premier League.
Meanwhile for Floriana, this was their third defeat in their last four matches.
Valletta immediately started the match on the attach.
Michael Mifsud had his shot from inside the area two minutes into the match saved by Patrick Jansen.
Floriana replied three minutes later when Malcolm Licari's attempt on goal went just over the bar.
On the 13th minute, Valletta managed to take the lead.
William Barbosa's perfect freekick, left no chance for Floriana's goalkeeper Patrick Jansen.
On the 25th minute, Valletta's Ousseni Zonga was unlucky not to score when his shot hit the woodwork.
Two minutes later, Valletta managed to double their lead. Ousseni Zongo served Denni Rocha dos Santos with a precise pass inside the area to have the latter beat the Floriana goalkeeper with his shot.
In the second half, Valletta continued to protect their two-goal lead.
Floriana came close to reducing the score when on the 78th minute when Pablo Doffo's freekick went just wide.
Floriana lost another opportunity to score on the 85th minute, when Ivan Woods missed the target from close range after picking up a rebound from a partially saved freekick by Pablo Doffo.
