Floriana come back from behind to defeat Sliema

Floriana are back to winning ways after their defeat against city rivals Valletta last weekend. Floriana managed to comeback from a goal down to defeat Sliema Wanderers 3-1.

With this victory, Floriana move up to third place, one point ahead of Birkirkara who have a game in hand while Sliema Wanderers remain in fifth after failing to win in their last five matches.

Sliema started the match on the attack and came very close to scoring on the seventh minute. Alex Muscat had his shot from inside the area his the woodwork.

Sliema's pressure paid off on the 20th minute when off a cross by Ryan Grech, Emiliano Lattes headed the ball in past goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo.

Sliema were unlucky not to double their lead when Ryan Fenech's shot from outside the area hit the crossbar on the 32nd minute.

Sliema were made to regret their missed chances just three minutes later when Floriana managed to score the equaliser. Off a freekick by Pablo Doffo, Andre Grabowski managed to score after the ball was cleared off the goal line on his first attempt.

Floriana's Onome Sodje went close to giving Floriana the lead on the 40th minute when his shot his the woodwork.

In the second half, Floriana started off with much more confidence and it paid off when they managed to take the lead on the 59th minute.

Off a Pablo Doffo freekick, Andre Grabowski headed the ball in the direction of Eric Akoto who made no mistake with his powerful shot from close range.

Floriana made sure they took home all three points on the 78th minute when Onome Sodje made it 3-1.

Andre Grabowski was voted BOV Player of the Match.
