Qormi started the 2012-13 in the best possible way after they collected all three points when they defeated newly-promoted Rabat Ajax 1-0.

The match started with both teams having equal opportunities in front of goal.

Qormi managed to get the better of Rabat Ajax when they took the lead on the 19th minute.

Leighton Grech served Joseph Chetcuti with the latter beating goalkeeper Sean Mintoff with his attempt.

Qormi managed to stay in control for most of the match protecting their one goal lead.

In added time of the second half, Rabat Ajax came very close to scoring the equaliser. Justin Felice's header looked as if it was going into the Qormi goal but some fine goalkeeping from Matthew Farrugia kept his team in the lead.

Rabat Ajax's Adam Smeir lost another opportunity to score when his shot hit the woodwork just before the final whistle.

Joseph Chetcuti was voted BOV Player of the Match.
