Melita and Rabat share the points in 6-goal thriller

Melita and Rabat Ajax played to a 3-3 draw to both earn their first point of the new season.

Rabat took the early lead on the seventh minute when Ryan Micallef found Nerijus Astrauskas with his pass to have the latter beat goalkeeper Karl Zahra with his shot.

Melita were back in the match when they equalized on the 14th minute. The play started when Julian Galea had his attempt on goal blocked by a defender but off the rebound, Luke Micallef beat goalkeeper Sean Mintoff with his shot.

On the 18th minute, Rabat managed to take the lead again when a powerful shot by Ryan Micallef hit the woodwork to have Nerijus Astrauskas pick up the rebound and easily slot the ball in.

Melita had a chance to equalise when they were awarded a penalty on the 34th minute when Luke Micallef was fouled inside the area. Joe Luis Armaro Negrin's attempt was blocked by goalkeeper Sean Mintoff to deny Melita the goal.
Melita finally managed to score the equaliser on the 73rd minute. Luke Sammut passed to Jose Luis Armaro Negrin who then went on to dribble past a defender before slotting the ball in goal past the goalkeeper.

On the 83rd minute, Melita managed to take the lead when Jose Luis Armaro Negrin scored his second of the night.

When Melita looked to have secured all three points, Rabat managed to score the equaliser three minutes in added time. Christian Muscat served Manuel Moral Fuster who then beat goalkeeper Karl Zahra with his powerful shot to earn a point for his team.

Luke Micallef was voted BOV Player of the Match.
