Inter's Cambiasso in deal for Liverpool's Javier Mascherano

Liverpool will get the chance to sign Esteban Cambiasso as a replacement for Javier Mascherano if they drop the £30million they have quoted Inter Milan for the Argentina captain. according to The Mirror

Inter boss Rafa Benitez has returned to his former club in a bid to take Mascherano to Serie A but is unwilling to meet Liverpool’s valuation.

Inter are now looking to smooth the way with a player-plus-cash deal that will see Cambiasso move to Anfield, but Liverpool are unwilling to countenance any dealings until Roy Hodgson is confirmed as manager.

While Cambiasso is nearing his 30th birthday, he is still regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. Cambiasso has always been regular with the starting eleven on the Inter side with Mancini as a coach and as well Mourinho.

It is reported that Inter president Massimo Moratti has threatened to give up unless Liverpool slash their price. But Benitez feels a deal can be struck if Hodgson accepts Cambiasso as a makeweight.
