Valletta suffer first defeat of the season against Mosta

Champions Valletta continue to struggle as they were defeated by Mosta 1-0 yesterday afternoon.

The last four matches all ended in draws for Valletta and now they remain one point behind Birkirkara in the BOV Premier League standings.

Valletta started the match on a positive note as they almost scored on the seventh minute. A freekick by William Barbosa hit the woodwork.

On the 16th minute, Mosta were also denied by the woodwork when Daniel Bogdanovic's shot hit the post.

Valletta went close to scoring on the 29th minute when Denni Rocha dos Santos shot his the crossbar.

Mosta started the second half on the attack and they managed to score on the 54th minute. Daniel Bogdanovic passed to Obinna Obiefule to have the latter make no mistake and beat goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo with his shot.

Valletta could not get back into the match and Mosta easily protected their one goal lead to secure all three points.

With this result Mosta move up to fourth place on 22 points, five behind league leaders Birkirkara.

Daniel Bogdanovic was voted BOV Player of the Match.
