Hours after admitting that he would like to coach in England, the former Barcelona boss has been named the new Bayern Munich manager.

Bayern Munich on Wednesday officially announced it had hired Pep Guardiola to coach next season for an undisclosed salary over three years.

The Bundesliga giants made the news official on their website, just one day after Bayern's media director Markus Horwick described claims the club had approached Guardiola to take over as "complete rubbish."

Guardiola had been linked with Premier League teams Chelsea and Manchester City as well as AC Milan in the past weeks.

Guardiola won 13 titles with Barcelona before stepping down last season. He replaces Jupp Heynckes, who told Bayern he wanted to end his career when his contract expires at the end of the season.
