Valletta continue fine form with victory over Sliema
Valletta remain at the top of the BOV Premier League standings after they defeated Sliema Wanderers 2-0.
Valletta scored the first goal of the match as early as the ninth minute. Demba Toure beat goalkeeper Glen Zammit with his low shot from close range.
Michael Mifsud went close to scoring another goal for Valletta, but Sliema's John Mintoff blocked his shot.
On the 52nd minute, Sliema's Luigi Ruggiero had a good shot on goal, but goalkeeper Yenz Cini performed a fantastic save to keep the ball out of the net.
Valletta practically put the game out of reach for Sliema when they scored their second goal on the 69th minute.
Off a corner by Michael Mifsud, Jonathan Caruana's header beat goalkeeper Glen Zammit to make the score 2-0.
Sliema were reduced to ten-men in stoppage time after Luigi Ruggiero was sent off.
Ryan Fenech was voted BOV Player of the Match.
