Hibernians put six past Hamrun

Hibernians defeated Hamrun Spartans 6-1 to keep the pressure on League leaders Valletta. This victory leaves Hibernians just one point behind Valletta in the BOV Premier League standings.

Hibernians managed to take the lead on the seventh minute. Jackson Lima set up the play when he passed to Clayton Failla who then went on to beat goalkeeper Andrea Cassar with his shot.

On the 30th minute, luck would not be on Hamrun's side. A Clayton Failla freekick hit the woodwork. Off the rebound Bjorn Kristensen's shot would be deflected past goalkeeper Andrea Cassar by defender Bledjon Guga for an own goal.

On the 36th minute, Jackson Lima served Andrew Cohen who then went on to try his luck on goal. Cohen's first attempt was blocked by Cassar, but off the rebound Andrew Cohen would find the back of the net to make the score 3-0.

Thirteen minutes into the second half,  Hamrun managed to reduce the scoreline when off a freekick by David Camilleri, Terence Vella beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his shot.

On the 74th minute, off a freekick by Clayton Failla, Jackson Lima would make no mistake with his precise header to make the score 4-1.

On the 83rd minute, off a cross by Jean Paul Farrugia, Andrew Cohen headed the ball home to make it 5-1.

In added time, Hiberniams added more misery to Hamrun when they scored their sixth goal. Clayton Failla served Jean Paul Farrugia whop went on to beat goalkeeper Andrea Cassar with his shot from close range.
