Balzan and Valletta share the spoils as Tarxien edge past Rabat
Valletta were held by ten-man Balzan in a match that ended 1-1.
With this result, Valletta still remain top of the BOV Premier League on 43 points, while Hibernians are two points behind with 41 points and Birkirkara in third with 40 points.
Balzan managed to take the lead two minutes into the second half. Elie Moises Akui N’Dekre had his low shot beat goalkeeper Yenz Cini.
On the 59th minute, Valletta scored the equalizer when Abubakar Bello-Osagie had his powerful shot beat goalkeeper Daniel Miguelez Martinez.
Balzan were reduced to ten men on the 70th minute when Renato Garcia Conceicao was sent of for trying to hit Michael Mifsud with an elbow. Balzan’s coach, Ivan Zammit was also sent off by the referee four minutes later.
Valletta increased the pressure to try to get the winning goal, but the Balzan players put in a great effort to keep Valletta from scoring the winning goal.
Abubakar Bello-Osagie was voted BOV Player of the Match.
In the other match, Tarxien Rainbows defeated Rabat Ajax 1-0.
With this victory, Tarxien sit in fourth place while Rabat remain at the bottom of the standings.
Tarxien scored the only goal of the match on the 24th minute when Marco Tulio Lopez left no chance for goalkeeper Sean Mintoff with his direct freekick.
Marco Tulio Lopez Silva was voted BOV Player of the Match.
