Italy's national football team Azzurri arrived in Malta this evening ahead of tomorrow's World Cup Qualifier match at the national stadium in Ta' Qali.

But Azzurri supporters were in for some disappointment after the Italian footballers didn't pass through the main Arrival gate at the Malta International Airport but instead walked out of the gate leading to the old airport.

After inspecting the pitch at the Ta' Qali stadium, Italian coach Cesare Prandelli addressed members of the media during which he admitted he was fearing that Malta's embarrassing performance against Bulgaria might fuel the Maltese players to make a comeback.

"I am worried that Malta lost 6-0 against Bulgaria. I would have been more comfortable if they had lost with just a goal or two as it now means that they will be more determined to make up for that dismal result," Prandelli said when asked what he expected of tomorrow's match.

Prandelli argued that the Maltese were "proud people" and the fact that tickets were sold out meant that the Maltese team would be on its best performance.

"My boys have to remain concentrated throughout the whole match and avoid any bad surprises. The Malta team also have an Italian coach and they are more technically disciplined. Even more than Brasil. It won't be easy," he said.

Last week, the Italy team played against Brazil during which it drew 2-2.

Prandelli also believes that despite the high number of Azzurri supporters in Malta, the Maltese will still support their national team tomorrow.

"The Maltese are very proud of what they represent and tomorrow they will support Malta... and it's right that way. But it's nice to know that they love us as well," he added.
