Massimo Moratti given three month ban and fined €45,000

Massimo Moratti has been suspended for three months over transfer irregularities. “Jose Mourinho was right, they’re making Inter pay one way or another.” he told Tuttosport

The Nerazzurri President was handed the three-month ban and fined €45,000 after the FIGC Disciplinary Commission ruled that negotiations for Thiago Motta and Diego Milito last summer were irregular.

This is because they were led by Genoa President Enrico Preziosi, who was suspended due to an earlier punishment. Preziosi has now been banned for a further six months.

“I have a lot of respect for the judges, but very little for the Federation,” said Moratti in Tuttosport.

“Mourinho was right when he said they’d make Inter pay one way or another. He left; unfortunately I cannot do the same.

“During the inquiry our defence was not taken remotely into consideration.

“In any case, this sentence is just the latest chapter in a hostile attitude towards Inter. I do not feel remotely guilty of anything.”

Due to the ban, Moratti will not be allowed into the locker room to see his players after the Italian Super Cup against Roma in August.
