Birkirkara stay top with victory over Tarxien

Birkirkara lead the table with 34 points. Hibernians sit two points behind while Valletta and Sliema are seven points behind in third place.

Meanwhile Tarxien Rainbows sit in fifth place with 26 points.

The match started off with both teams creating few chances in front of goal. On the 33^rd minute the first real opportunity to score arrived when Tarxien's Steven Bonnici missed the target with his header.

Tarxien missed another chance to score when Roderick Bajada's attempt went just over the crossbar.

On the 61^st minute, Tarxien created another chance to score when Daniel Mariano Bueno' s header was saved by goalkeeper Justin Haber.

Birkirkara shocked Tarxien on the 66^th minute when they managed to take the lead.  Off a pass by Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza to Jhonnattann Benites da Conceicao, the latter had his low show beet goalkeeper Nicky Vella.

Birkirkara protected their one goal lead until the end of the match to register another important victory.

Jhonnattann Benites da Conceicao was voted BOV Player of the Match.
